At the Indigenous Place Making Council we believe that Indigenous culture should be celebrated and supported through spatial design.
IPMC works with Indigenous communities in both rural and urban settings to improve the quality and process of community design in a manner that reflects local talent, traditions and resources, while improving local capacities to define spatial design in a manner that supports traditional cultures and sustainable economic development.
How We Do It
We facilitate a process of design, programming and construction that provides training and apprenticeship opportunities for Indigenous youth leading to new career opportunities and the revitalization of Indigenous practices of placemaking. The co-design process, in collaboration with local communities is as important, if not more, than the final product.
